Official site of Donné et Desirée, a cool post/avant rock duo from the Netherlands, adding blasts of free jazz to their no wave. Semi improv, semi jazz, semi noiserock, which references both MC5 and John Cage.DONNé ET DESIRéE are two nice, but somewhat boisterous blokes. One of them hits, strokes, scratches and throws things, among which is a drum kit. The other owns a huge loudspeaker and does things with guitars, loopstations and other very 21st century devices. Together they produce fragile soundscapes which often result in sonic whirlwinds. Influenced by No Wave, Free Jazz and the New York School, they create harmonic, rhythmic and atonal clouds of sound. Sometimes these clouds, in all their tranquillity, but often dissonant splendor, float past from a distance almost unnoticed. Sometimes, when they collide, they create severe storms and hurricanes, which often involve lots of thunder and lightning. DONNé ET DESIRéE are nicely abstract, and do like minimalism, magnetism and gravity … and feedback!!! Improvisations and instant compositions often serve as the basis for structured pieces in which improvisation, aleatory and more fixed events alternate and interlock in an organic way. All this happens with the energy and arrogance you would rather expect from a Washington DC punk band, than from two gentlemen who graduated cum laude from the Istanbul Conservatory.

In short: a cool post/avant rock duo from the Netherlands, adding blasts of free jazz to their no wave. Semi improv, semi jazz, semi noiserock, which references both MC5 and John Cage.
